Peter is a communications and PR professional with 20 years of experience managing high-profile issues and advising clients on strategic communications, crisis management, litigation communications, brand building and product launches, and reputation management.

He has advised start-ups, Fortune 100 companies, individuals, universities, governments, and nonprofits about issues including strategic planning, government and media investigations, product launches, labor disputes, social media activism, and legislative and regulatory action.

Peter worked at Amazon where he led the e-commerce company’s global communications strategy for Trust and Product Safety. He was responsible for developing and executing proactive media campaigns to bolster Amazon’s reputation as well as build customer trust.

As the Director of Communications for Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Peter crafted long-term issues-based communications plans and led day-to-day press response, press conferences, large-scale events, rapid response, crisis communications, and social media for the administration. He developed and executed Atlanta’s COVID-19 communications strategy and response – which was lauded nationally.

Peter also served as the Director of Communications for Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, where he built a communications strategy that shifted the narrative away from vacancy and bankruptcy to regrowth and revitalization.

In New York, Peter served in the de Blasio administration where he developed a communications plan for Mayor de Blasio’s Universal Pre-K program – the largest expansion of pre-K in U.S. history. He led rapid response and coordinated inter-agency communications during emergency situations.

Prior to the de Blasio administration, Peter was the deputy press secretary for the United Federation of Teachers where he executed press strategies for a 200,000-member labor union — the nation’s largest local.

Peter was also a reporter for the New York Daily News and New York Post.
